Sample-Studios and Radical Institute: Aesthetics of Empowerment invite expressions of interest for the artist residency programme, ‘Radical Institute at Studios of Sanctuary’. Three individual mentorship-led residencies of 15 months duration are open to artists seeking or who have sought asylum in Ireland; migrant and ethnic minority artists, including those from Irish Traveller communities, who have a developing interest in socially engaged and/or community collaborative art practice.

Residency involves /Studio Facilities _ you will have full access to our studio facilities at Sample studios /Programme of Mentoring _ you will participate in a programme of mentoring, workshops and be supported in developing a structured engagement with local communities of interest /Creative Support _ you will be supported in creating new approaches/methods/tools and co-create interactive workshops with your communities of interest /Professional Development _ you will gain professional development opportunities. This includes Radical Institute’s consecutive four-part training and mentorship programmes in Personal Focus + Collaborative Focus + Community Focus + Professional Focus /Summer School in 2022 _ you will attend a summer school in 2022 for interactive-based workshops with other artists with a focus on social themes  /Group Exhibition _ your work will be part of a group exhibition along with the other resident artists. /Artist Bursary _ You will receive €1000 individual artist bursary per month for the duration of the 15 month residency, commencing in September 2021.

This residency programme, funded by the Cork Arts Fund 2021 at The Community Foundation for Ireland, is based at Sample-Studios and is led by Radical Institute.

Please note that this bursary does not include accommodation and artists must be based in Munster the Republic of Ireland to be eligible for this opportunity.
